Following 20 years in London designing a variety of commercial and high-end residential interiors with small design practices, I moved to Perth, focussing on hospitality design and detailing interiors for bespoke houses by design architects.
I have always enjoyed the detail and knowledge of construction processes which inform good design.
My focus for the last 14 years has been to represent the client’s interests in achieving their goals with better value and suitability, drawing on my extensive experience in high-level interior design.
My role as Interior Design Director for Crown Resorts Sydney, following the completion of Crown Towers in Perth, was an opportunity to use this experience to manage the numerous design consultants, critiquing their deliverables at all stages, keeping on schedule and aligned with the brand's high expectations. The finished product also had to be cost-effective and fit for purpose.
Returning to Perth, I was able to continue this role for the developers of a new Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Murdoch, liaising between the designers, Hassell Studio, and the Marriott design director, to satisfy both their brand standards and the developer's budget.
Much of hospitality design is reliant on appropriate furniture, and my 10 years at Crown exposed me to the processes of overseas as well as domestic fabrication of custom pieces, on a large, varied scale.
I have been able to capitalise on this since back in Perth, selecting and procuring all FF&E and artwork for the Courtyard by Marriott guest rooms and public spaces.
More recently, fulfilling a similar role for various venues within The State Buildings in Perth CBD.
